The Architecture, Design, and Art Library will be closing from 1:30 -3:30pm on Friday, May 13th during the College of Architecture and Design’s graduation and will resume to regular hours after the ceremony.
This week’s book display is themed after Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Browse through a selection of curated books celebrating artists & architects from Asian & Pacific Islander backgrounds. All book available to check-out.

The Pop-Up Library program began in 2018 often collaborating with Blaffer Art Museum to introduce students to two campus resources.
Find us at the Stress Free Finals Kickoff in partnership with the Student Center and Blaffer Art Museum. You can browse through a selection of curated art books then participate in a fun art-making activity. There will be free tote bags, mugs, ice cream and much more!
Pop-Up’s
The Pop-Up Library program began in 2018 in collaboration with Blaffer Art Museum to introduce students to two campus resources. Each pop-up consists of curated art books and featured catalogs for sale.
First Friday Studio Sessions
Blaffer Art Museum offers Studio Sessions the first Thursday of every month during the fall and spring semesters. Students are invited to join drop-in tours and hands-on activities to better connect with current exhibitions. The Blaffer regularly partners with the William R. Jenkins Architecture, Design, and Art Library to a host a pop-up at each event where students can check out art books and supplies.

The Architecture, Design, and Art Library would like to honor the legacy of Raymond Brochstein by sharing an interview archived in the UH Digital Library.
The interview took place in 2015 between Mr. Brochstein and David Bucek from the series Building Houston. He discusses the history discusses the history of his family, business, Rice University campus architecture, and the City of Houston’s built environment.

The last speakers in the 2021-2022 Books and Bytes series are Tom Diehl, associate professor of Architecture at Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design and graphic designer Eric Dowding. They will speak about the creation of Diehl’s newest book Internal: Developing Informed Architectural Languages.

Tuesday, April 5: National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, users, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.
Wednesday, April 6: National Library Outreach Day (formerly National Bookmobile Day), a day to celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are.
Thursday, April 7: Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to rally advocates to support libraries.
