  1. Dear Dean German, are aware that with the introduction of the newly-designed access.uh.edu last summer, there is no longer any way to access the library directly? The have removed the icon for the one service I use as much as the directory from among those that I rarely have used in 18 years, and disappointingly, my repeated requests to IT verbally and in writing via their feedback link to restore prominently a link and icon to the library have not resulted in restoring it. Even when you select “List of Services” from their page, the library is no longer included. How can this be? In my chats with your staff when I have been getting assistance with something, they seem unaware as well, so I wanted to bring it to your attention so that you might advocate strongly with IT to ensure that this most valuable of resources is front and center in our online presence, especially internally, just as it is physically at the center of campus. Count me as a library advocate and let me know what I can do to help you.

  2. Just wanted to say how helpful the library is to me. I just completed my undergraduate degree and started my Ph.D. in Biology. For my research I tend to need a lot of books and obscure articles, and whoever handles it is wonderful. I usually have them in a few days.

And Chris, who handles the training sessions, is one of the best trainers I’ve worked with, and I’ve worked with a lot of them. His sessions are clear and efficient.

Overall I love the library. If you could just make it a little cooler on the 4th and 5th floors …

    Scott
