Visual representations of knowledge
In the humanities, most students and scholars are used to accessing and representing knowledge in a straightforward, linear fashion, most often as narrative text of one sort or another. Of course, this is not the only way of presenting information, and it is not always the most effective. Here are some examples of visual depictions of information about philosophy and religion:
- mind map: “A Mind-Map to Western Philosophy” from the blog stevengharms.com
- chart: The Big Religion Chart from ReligionFacts
- geographical map: History of Religion from Maps-of-War
- concept chart: The 5 Branches of Philosophy from Importance of Philosophy (NB: this chart presents information with a definite point of view, especially in the politics and ethics sections)
