5 tips for finding scores in the Music Library

Help!, Library Resources

Tip no. 1:  Can’t find a sonata, concerto, symphony, etc.?  Pluralize the musical form for better results (“sonatas” instead of “sonata”).

EXAMPLE: Search for “beethoven” AND “sonatas” AND “violin”  instead of “beethoven violin sonata”. See for yourself what a difference this simple trick can make in your catalog searches.

This collection holds digitized images of some of the world’s oldest surviving volumes of printed music.

Early Music Online is the result of a pilot project in which more than 300 volumes of 16th-century music from the British Library were digitized from microfilm.
