American Physical Society Access

American Physical Society has a problem with their subscription fulfillment system and some subscribers have lost access temporarily. APS is working to restore access as soon as possible.

Intermittent access to ASTM Standards – RESOLVED

The library is experiencing intermittent access problems to ASTM Standards. Access problems began yesterday morning, Saturday, April 13th and still continue today, Sunday, April 14th. The Electronic Resources Team attempted to contact ASTM Technical Support, but due to the weekend, no one was available. We will contact them during normal business hours.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes your research goals this weekend.

Service Notice and Upcoming changes to the ARTstor Digital Library – RESOLVED

Please be advised that ARTstor will be undergoing an upgrade to the Digital Library on Tuesday, April 16th between 5-11 AM. During this time, users will be able to access the Digital Library but may experience some slowness. This upgrade will eliminate the need for Java in the ARTstor Digital Library and single image downloads will be delivered in Zip files.

Many versions of Windows come equipped with a built in zip program, but if you need to install a program on your PC, ARTstor recommends 7-Zip, available free at 7-zip.org. Mac users will not need to install software to handle zip files as it is already built into OS X. If you experience any difficulties, please clear the cache on your browser and restart your Web browser.

ARTstor Digital Library drops Java-RESOLVED

ARTstor Digital Library announces an update that will eliminate the need for Java in the ARTstor Digital Library. In the near future, single image downloads will be delivered in zip files.

ARTstor has been using Java for downloads of individual images, but recently the U.S. Department of Homeland Security began recommending that Java be disabled due to security concerns. After ARTstor’s update, users who download single image files will receive a zip file that contains a JPEG image and an HTML file with the associated metadata. In addition to removing the need for Java, using zip will allow ARTstor to pursue other feature enhancements, such as additional options for image group downloads.

For some users, mainly those on PCs, it might be necessary to install software to unzip their downloads.

ScienceDirect intermittent problems, Sunday March 24, 2013 – RESOLVED

ScienceDirect has been experiencing intermittent connectivity problems early this morning, Sunday, March 24. If you are unable to connect to a journal article, please wait about 10 minutes and try again. The duration of this issue is unknown.

ProQuest Unavailable on March 9-RESOLVED

On Saturday, March 9, 2013 ProQuest will install new enhancements, features, and databases, to improve the research experience. Highlights from this release include:

  • Publication search & discover enhancements
  • Thesaurus search & discover enhancements
  • Athens authentication software upgrade to the Shibboleth® based OpenAthens Federation

A six (6) hour maintenance window is needed to install these enhancements. The window will take place from Saturday, March 9, 2012, at 9:00 PM to Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 3:00 AM. During this time the ProQuest platform will not be available.

Journal of Clinical Psychiatry – Technical Problems

The Host website of the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, Psychiatrist.com, is experiencing technical issues due to a move to new servers.  You may experience off and on access problems.  Their web department is aware of the problem and working quickly to resolve it.
