This page is to inform and disseminate information concerning the University of Houston Libraries’ electronic resources. Below are all current issues. In the menu bar, you can find on-going known issues and help information.

ScienceDirect is temporarily offline. The Library has contacted the vendor and will let you know as soon as the service becomes available.
Ebook Library will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance on Saturday, July 23, 2016 between noon and 3:00 pm.
As of 7:30 pm, July 11, 2016 Ebsco reports:
“We have been receiving multiple reports of customers having difficulty accessing EBSCOhost and EBSCO Discovery Service. Our engineers are researching the issue and we will provide an update shortly.”
Online reading and downloading of the ebook “Practical Statistics for Educators” is currently blocked. We have contacted the publisher to restore access and are monitoring the issue. We hope to have it resolved soon. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Currently, the Inorganic Crystal Structure Database is unavailable. The library is working with the vendor to restore access.
Due to systematic downloading, the vendor has turned off access to OnePetro. The library is working closely with the vendor to get access restored as soon as possible.
On Saturday, August 1, access to Elsevier platforms will be unavailable due to a scheduled maintenance for approximately 4.5 hours starting at 5 PM.
The platforms and solutions involved are:
- Elsevier Research Platforms: ScienceDirect (both journals and eBooks), Scopus (including Author Feedback Wizard), Engineering Village
Each platform will be displaying a warning to users of this scheduled downtime, and during downtime, there will be a message informing users of the temporary unavailability of service.
The Library has recently been made aware of an overlap of IP addresses on our campus, and it is affecting several buildings here. We are working with our colleagues to resolve the issue.
In the meantime, if you are unable to access an article from the web, please copy and paste the following string in front of the URL for the article: ezproxy.lib.uh.edu/login?url=
You will be prompted to login with your CougarNet ID and password. As long as the library has a subscription to the journal, you will be able to access the article after logging in.

Safari Tech Books has a 6 simultaneous user limit. If you cannot access your book at this time, please try again later.
There is a problem accessing journals and articles form ScienceDirect for users that are off-campus. You may be prompted to login or purchase an article after entering your CougarNet ID and password. This should not be happening. This is an error that is coming from ScienceDirect. If you need an article, please contact the library. Library staff can download a PDF and send it to you while this problem is occurring.
