Upcoming Training Classes
There will be several training classes this Fall for citation management tools:
Training for EndNote and EndNote Web will be conducted by Donna Kirking on October 20th. There will be two classes offered that day :
• 9:00 – 11:00 EndNote Web for EndNote Users (Basic Level)
• 11:30 – 1:00 Advanced EndNote and Problem-Solving/Troubleshooting
The 11:30 class will be a sort of Q&A format – users will ask questions and Donna will be able to give answers right then. This is for advanced users of EndNote/EndNote Web.
Training for RefWorks will be conducted by Jason High on November 12th. Three classes will be held that day:
• 9:30-11:30 RefWorks Fundamentals
• 1:00-3:00 RefWorks Fundamentals
• 3:15-4:45 RefWorks Advanced

UH Libraries’ EndNote Workshop
The next EndNote Workshop at the UH Libraries will be held on:
- Wednesday, March 7th
- 10am – 12noon
- Training Room 10-G, Basement of the M.D. Anderson Library
All UH students, faculty and staff are invited. Folks from the Houston area not affiliated with UH are also invited – please just send me an email and let me know you’ll be coming. (lahilyer _at_ uh (dot) edu).
This is a basic workshop that assumes no previous knowledge of EndNote.

Additionally, UH students, faculty and staff can schedule one-on-one or small group instruction in EndNote that is customized to your needs. Email me (see above) to schedule an appointment.
EndNote Class
The next UH Libraries’ EndNote class will be taught:
October 10th, 2006 (Tuesday)
10am – 12noon
Room 10G (Basement of the M.D. Anderson Library)
The class is designed for beginning to intermediate EndNote users, and covers the following three main skill areas:
1. Navigating an EndNote library and entering a reference manually
2. Importing references from library databases
3. Inserting references into your WORD document and formatting bibliographies
Reservations are not required though space is limited to 36 participants.

Transforming Scholarly Communication Symposium
Greetings!
The UH Libraries will be hosting the Transforming Scholarly Communication Symposium on Wednesday, October 4th, 2006 from 1-4:30pm in the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion (2nd Floor, Anderson Library).
It is intended to inform UH faculty and staff about key issues related to scholarly publishing: copyright issues in the digital age, open access and the crisis in scholarly communication.
