Wikis and Blogs 101 Workshop Canceled
The Wikis and Blogs 101 Workshop originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 19 from 4-5pm has been canceled. There are plenty of other workshops available for students, faculty, and staff this semester. For a complete listing, visit the Open Workshops Online Schedule.
Call for Artists deadline extended through January 16!
Work is being accepted for a juried exhibit, January 31-April 15, 2008, sponsored by UH Libraries. Open to UH students in any major. The exhibit jury includes directors and curators from the Blaffer Gallery, Houston Art League, Lawndale Art Center, Menil Collection, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, as well as UH Honors College and School of Art faculty members.
Submit 2D, ready to hang work in any medium, not to exceed 5'x5' or extend more than 4" from wall, to the Library Administration office on the 2nd floor of the M.D. Anderson Library or the Jenkins Architecture and Art Library. Work will be accepted until 5 pm, January 16th.
M.D. Anderson Open 24 hrs during finals
The M.D. Anderson Library will be open 24 hours a day during the majority of the 2007 Fall Finals period. The library will be open at the following times:
- Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 7:00am – Friday, Dec. 7 at 11:45pm.
- Saturday, Dec. 8: 8:00am – 7:45pm.
- Sunday, Dec. 9 at 12:00pm (noon) – Thursday, Dec. 13 at 11:45pm.
Intersession hours will begin on Friday, Dec. 14. Good luck with Finals!
Registration for Great Pumpkin Event
Dana Rooks,Dean of Libraries and Student Government Association invite you to the 3rd Annual Great Pumpkin Event. We are hosting a pumpkin carving contest and awards will be given in the following categories:
- Best School Spirit
- Scariest
- Most Unique
- Best Celebrity Impersonation
- Dean's Choice
- Most Bookish
Please fill out Organization Reservation Form. It must be returned to the M.D. Anderson Library Information Desk by 5:00 pm Monday, October 22, 2007. This form will allow your group to pick up one pumpkin on Monday, October 29, 2007 between noon and 4:00 pm, then the carved and decorated pumpkins are due by 1:00 pm Wednesday October 31st at M.D. Anderson Library, second level EDR Pavilion for judging.
Please do not forget to come to the M.D. Anderson Library @ 4:30 pm on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 to see the award-winning pumpkins. Join the celebration, view the pumpkins, and have cider and donuts.

A Few Spirits from… Ghosts in the Books
Did you miss seeing the recent exhibition Ghosts in the Books, held at the Museum of Printing History? You now have a second chance to learn about how the former owners of books speak to us, as described by UH faculty member and Engines of Our Ingenuity radio host Dr. John Lienhard. A small selection of works from Ghosts in the Books will be on display through February 16th, 2007 on the second floor of M.D. Anderson Library, just at the top of the staircase.
