Library Web Sites Unavailable on Nov 1st, 7-10am
Electrical power to the Library will be shut off on Sunday November 1st from 7 AM to 10 AM. During this period there will be no access to the Libraries’ servers. This includes all library web sites, electronic resources, and the library catalog. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Encore service to restored evening of Aug. 28
We apologize for the inconvenience, but Encore needs to go through some unscheduled maintenance. If you are unfamiliar with Encore, it’s a discovery platform and better way to search the catalog. It will be unavailable this afternoon, but you can still search for books, journals, and other materials through the traditional catalog.
Federated Serarch Tool – Temporarily Unavailable
On Tuesday, August 25th from 6:30-7pm, the federated search tools will be down due to scheduled web server maintenance. You will not be able to use any of the federated search tools on the UH Libraries’ website. This includes doing a search on the homepage for articles. You can still go into individual databases to look for articles. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Cambridge Journals Online possible service interruptions
Please note that there may be intermittent interruptions in service to our Cambridge Journals Online customers on Sunday, December 21st, and Monday, December 22nd, from 8 pm until 9 pm BST (3 pm until 4 pm EST) each day, as maintenance must be performed on the server. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Library Website and Catalog Unavailable 5/28 – 5/29

Chat Reference on break during Intersession
The UH Libraries’ Chat Reference service is on break during Intersession, Friday, May 9, 2008 through Monday, June 1, 2008. Chat Reference service will resume Tuesday, June 2, 2008. Should you need help with research or answers to library-related questions, please stop by the UH M.D. Anderson Library Information Desk or submit a question via the Ask a Librarian form online.
ProQuest Databases Unavailable This Weekend
Please note that ProQuest databases will be unavailable for 12 hours from 9 pm, April 26th to 9 am, April 27th. The databases affected include:
- All ProQuest interface products (e.g., ABI databases, Historical Newspapers, Dissertations & Theses, etc.)
- e-library
- Black Studies Center
- Literature Online (LION)

Chat Reference Service Unavailable
During Spring Break 2008, March 17th – 21st, the Libraries’ Chat Reference service will be unavailable. For assistance, please use our Ask-A-Librarian service (http://info.lib.uh.edu/services/aska.html).
Chat Reference will resume at 3pm on Monday, March 24th. Have a great Spring Break!
Printing Unavailable, Sunday March 16th
Printing will be unavailable Sunday, March 16th, to install needed upgrades to the Libraries’ print server and release station software. Printing will be available again on Monday, March 17th.
Visitors to the Libraries on Sunday should bring a USB flash drive with them to save any created documents or located research articles. UH students and faculty can save documents to their CougarNet "H" drive.
