Suzanne Ferimer of the UH Optometry Library has received senior level membership to the Academy of Health Information Professionals.

Suzanne Ferimer, librarian and director of learning resources at the Weston A. Pettey Optometry Library, has been awarded senior level membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) by the Medical Library Association (MLA).

The peer-reviewed professional development and career recognition program recognizes achievements in continuing education, teaching, publishing, research, and other contributions to the profession. The AHIP credential signifies the highest standards of professional competency and achievement in the field of healthcare information.

Ferimer has coordinated the operations of the Optometry Library for over three decades, serving the teaching, learning, and research objectives of the UH College of Optometry. Ferimer is a member of the MLA, Texas Medical Center Health Information Librarians, South Central Chapter/South Central Regional Group of the MLA, and the Association of Vision Science Librarians. Her most recent presentation on the development of new standards in vision science libraries was delivered at the 2014 American Academy of Optometry.
