Federated Search Tool Down Sat and Sun (9/21 – 9/23)
The library's federated search tool (the Article Search box on the Libraries homepage) will be down Saturday 9/21 – Sunday 9/23 for maintainance. The tool will be available again on Monday.
Library & University Closing at 5pm (Sept 12th)
Tropical Storm Humberto is predicted to create severe weather in the Houston area tonight if it comes ashore as currently predicted.
To ensure the protection of our students, faculty and staff, the University of Houston is canceling all classes that begin after 5 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, September 12, 2007, and will not reopen for classes until 12 noon on Thursday, September, 13, 2007. The University & Libraries will be closed for all faculty and staff, and only job critical personnel should report to campus.

WorldCat/ILLiad Link
Interlibrary Loan users who normally request materials via WorldCat should be aware that we are still experiencing problems with the transfer of citation information from WorldCat to ILLiad. Technical support is working on the problem and we hope to have it resolved soon.

New Database for Black Studies
The University of Houston Libraries now provide access to Black Studies Center. It is a database that combines current and historical resources for research and teaching in Black Studies. It is a convenient gateway to scholarly essays, dissertations, recent periodicals, historical newspaper articles, and much more.
ILL/Catalog Link Unavailable in WorldCat
We are currently experiencing problems with the ILL/Catalog ("Find this Item") link in the WorldCat database. Other OCLC FirstSearch databases are not affected.
Unfortunately, you will have to manually check the catalog and/or enter the request into ILLiad.
To check the catalog for an item:
- Open a new browser window (CTRL+N) or a new browser tab (CTRL+T).
- Go to: http://library.uh.edu/
- Perform a catalog search as you normally would.
To request the item via Interlibrary Loan:
- Open a new browser window (CTRL+N) or a new browser tab (CTRL+T).
- Go to: http://illiad.lib.uh.edu/illiad/logon.html and log in with your username and password.
- Enter the information in the "Book (or other Loan)" form, then click the "Submit" button.
